Kylian Mbappé’s future with Paris Saint-Germain is looking increasingly uncertain as the deadline of July 31st looms. PSG sent the French international a letter on July 3rd, formally calling on the player to make a decision by the end of the month, after initial negotiations to either renew his contract or accept a sale this summer had failed to make any progress.
The club claims that a meeting is “essential” in order to find the best solution for both parties, either a renewal for the 24-25 season or an exit in this same market. In addition, they insist that these are the only two solutions that can help the club avoid a period of paralysis in regards to their future plans caused by the player’s “recent decisions”, according to the three-page letter MARCA understands.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that Mbappé has been protected by military personnel due to fears of potential kidnapping. He has also been on a visit to Cameroon and is now heading to Algeria, before returning to work with the rest of the internationals on Monday the 17th of July. This date also coincides with the deadline given by Nasser Al-Khelaifi, where he spoke to several Galician media outlets after the presentation of Luis Enrique to find a solution within ten days to two weeks.
The pressure is now on for Mbappé to make a decision ahead of PSG’s promotion tour to Japan on July 22nd. It is expected that if his future is not solved by then, he will travel with the rest of the squad. While Mbappé has expressed his intention to continue with his stance, the club is trying to avoid any disruption to the new coach’s plans.
